Watercolor portrait of Reine Churchill reading a book, with the caption: Meet the Author. Hi, I'm Reine! I write small-town romances with big personalities, questionable decisions, and happily ever afters. Strong heroines. Ridiculous banter. Complicated families. And love stories worth getting lost in.

For as long as I can remember, I've had characters living in my head. Voices, conversations, and half-formed stories that just wouldn't leave me alone. It wasn't until I was out of grad school and fully adulting that I realized they were fictional characters demanding to be written. Imagine my relief!

Lina Thompson was the first to make herself impossible to ignore. I kept notes about her story on my phone for years before finally sitting down and writing four chapters in a single afternoon.

And then, naturally, I didn't touch the manuscript again for four years.

When I finally came back to Lina, the other characters decided they wanted their own stories, too.

When I'm not writing romance, I'm usually reading it—or getting lost in a mystery, thriller, or historical novel. I'm also a firm believer that there's a correct way to load a dishwasher, although apparently not everyone appreciates being informed of that fact.

More than anything, I want my stories to feel like somewhere you can escape to for a while. Somewhere you can laugh, fall in love, and become hopelessly invested in people who feel a little like family.

That's what Whynot has become to me, and I hope it becomes that for you, too.

There's always room for one more at Sunday dinner.
